Spring 2024 Show Aberglasney
The Club held the annual Spring Show at the Mansion House Aberglasney over the weekend of March 9th and 10th.
The show was dedicated to our dear friend Jerry, who tragically passed away in late February – and we must thank everyone for their kind words and memories of Jerry. We displayed one of his spectacular Yews as a tribute to his exceptional ability as a bonsai artist – and as a much loved and highly respected member of our own club and of the Bonsai Community
The team set up the show on the Friday afternoon and some late additions and changes were made early on Saturday before the show opened to the public at 10:00am The weather forecast for the weekend didn’t look that good earlier in the week, but again we were lucky with a rain free two days.
That was the last dry day we’ve had since – and we’re all longing for Spring to finally come with some sunshine…
Our show included many new trees that we’d not had on public displays before - and as with previous shows the visitors were able to vote for their favorite tree / display.
The sales table was again very busy over the weekend - and we may have encouraged some local bonsai enthusiasts to join our club this year.
Our Guest Judge this year was Dave Yarranton, from the Wirral Bonsai Society, and we extend our thanks to Dave for taking the time to be with us. Dave also very kindly provided a detailed assessment of all the exhibits and advise Dargon Bonsai Team members on many aspects of their trees and the way they were displayed.
